What Is A Pluggable Optical Filter & How Does It Work?

A Pluggable Optical Filter, also called plug-in optical filter or WDM fiber optic filter, is a critical passive fiber component widely used in modern optical communication networks. Many FTTH and FTTx engineers choose the Pluggable Optical Filter for wavelength filtering and signal management.

The Pluggable Optical Filter adopts special optical fiber structure. Its core function is to select or filter specific wavelengths of light among different optical signals. Our standard Pluggable Optical Filter supports transmission band at 1260–1360nm and 1460–1581nm, while reflecting 1610–1660nm wavelength. This is the most popular wavelength configuration for PON network monitoring.

Compared with fixed fiber filters, the biggest advantage of the Pluggable Optical Filter is plug-and-play design. This SC APC Pluggable Optical Filter can be directly inserted into SC adapters without complicated splicing work. It features low insertion loss and high optical return loss, stable performance from -40℃ to +85℃.

We supply this Pluggable Optical Filter with multiple connector options: SC/UPC, SC/APC, LC/UPC, LC/APC. Different WDM wavelength models are optional for your project. If you are looking for a reliable fiber optic filter for wavelength separation, our Pluggable Optical Filter is a cost-effective passive optical solution.
